Sony readies 8GB player with Samsung support
Posted on December 28, 2005

The Inquirer reports that Samsung has won a major deal to supply memory to Sony for use in an 8GB player. This is not the only Memory deal in Samsung's favour, Bloomberg reports that Samsung will make the bulk of memory modules to be used in Sony's next generation gaming console the Playstation 3. The news sent shares of Samsung soaring by 14 per cent on the South Korea bourse.

Bloomberg estimates that if the Sony report is correct, that will soak up 20 per cent of Samsung's memory production.
