Remove Scratches On iPod With Brasso
Posted
on January 29, 2007
Remove Scratches From ANYTHING! - video powered by Metacafe
The iPod is a beautiful player, but it can also be fragile. Luckily, with a cheap can of metal polishing Brasso, you can get your iPod back into tip-top shape. Basically, you just put a little Brasso on a cloth or cotton ball and using the weight of your hands, and start scrubbing your iPod in small circular motions. Start off gently, keeping in mind that you may need to apply more pressure to get rid of some of the deeper scratches. Be patient, though, as you may have to scrub the iPod for a while before you start to really notice the difference. After anywhere from 5-20 minutes, you should have a hugely restored finish on your iPod. It even removes most of the scratches on the stainless steel back.

You can carry an entire CD collection on an iPod, plus videos, still photographs, audio books, and podcasts, and still have room for more. It's not just the capacity of the iPod that makes it important, Apple has created a new way of thinking about audio and video content. With the listing of podcasts in the iTunes Store, many people realized that they could create an audio file, upload to some server somewhere, create the feed, and post that to iTunes. And anyone in the world could search iTunes, subscribe, and download it for free.

Microsoft's Allchin proposed support for iPod
Posted
on January 25, 2007
As part of an Iowa antitrust case, an interesting email from Windows boss Jim Allchin has been released, and it gives a pretty damning review of Microsoft and its partners' attempts at competing with the iPod. Given the subject line "sucking on media players", the November 2003 email also reveals that Allchin wanted to talk with Steve Jobs and Apple to better build support for the iPod into Windows Media Player after a "really terrible" experience with Windows and a Creative music player. The e-mail was one of a three made public that begin with a message from Allchin to Amir Majidimehr, currently head of Microsoft's consumer media technology group, documenting Allchin's thoughts and experiences using Creative Technology's Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra.

Luxpro is a Taiwanese electronics company that is manufacturing a knockoff to the Apple iPod shuffle, called the "Super Shuffle" initially, but they changed the name of the MP3 player to the Tangent to avoid legal action. It didn't work and Apple sued Luxpro in Shihlin District Court of Taiwan for the copyright infringement and won. Luxpro was ordered to desist from manufacturing, advertising, and selling the product. Then Luxpro appealed the ruling and won the appeal. Apple appealed to the Taiwan Supreme Court and they upheld the appeals court ruling in favor of Luxpro.
